January 30th 2017

We are excited to announce our May 7th 2017 Mudpuppy Chase.  Back at Laurel Creek Conservation area, we are going to host the region's largest running race again!  Registration for the 12th annual Mudpuppy Chase opens February 19th.  Stay tuned!

September 11th 2016

Runners Instructions

Race start time:  9:30am, Saturday September 17th

Location:  Laurel Creek Conservation Area (Click here for map), start line & race headquarters is at the “Critter Shelter” in the park!

Race kit pick up:  Adventure Guide (click here for map) Thursday September 15th, 5:00pm – 8:00pm.  Out of town?  Pick up on race day starting at 8:00am at the Critter Shelter!

Timing Chips:  These will be affixed to your bib.  Make sure you cross the mat at the finish line!

Race numbers/bibs:  Attach to the front of your shirt with the provided pins.

Parking: We have more than 20 parking attendants.  Follow their direction when you enter the park off Westmount Road North.  Remember you and everyone in your car enter into the park for free, there is lots of parking available in the park.

Start Line:  The start line will be a wide line located at the Critter Shelter, think high school cross country.  This line will funnel down to the double track course after the first 50 meters and a right hand turn.  If you are going for an age category prize or personal best you will need to get off to a fast start!  Be a little cautious!

Route/Race Course:  The course is a 4km loop (note some GPS show 4.2kms).  One full lap if you are in the 4km race, two laps for the 8km race, and three laps for the 12km race.  On your last lap, you will go to the right, over the finishing mats.  If you are continuing on to complete another lap for your race distance stay to the left side of the road and go straight.  The course will be clearly marked with pylons, flags and our great volunteer marshals.

Finish:  Run to the right after you go under the inflatable finish line, over the mats to ensure your time is the best possible.  Run right past the clock showing your time and pick up your medal!
Water Station:  Available at the start/finish line and at 4/8km distance on course.

Spectators: The last 100 meters of the loop will have a spectator area cordoned off for your supporters.

Warm Up:  Anytime Fitness will be rocking our warm up just prior to 9:30!

Awards and post-race announcements:  These will take place as each race finishes.  Results will be posted at the Critter Shelter so you can see you official finishing statistics.  If you see you have won an age category prize (4/8/12km races), head to the Anytime Fitness prize table for your gifts!

Post race refreshments:  Our volunteers will be serving food after the race at the Critter Shelter.  You will need your race bib in order to be admitted into this area. We will have brunch buffet service, so please take your food and move forward to ensure shorter lines for all.

Fundraising Prizes:  We would love it if you did some online fundraising, it’s easy!  There is still time to get the amazing Adventure Guide gift cards for your fundraising efforts!

Results online:  Results will be posted on Chiptime Results and as soon as they are available after the race.

There are still a few spots to fit a friend in under our race limit!  Forward this email and have your friend register here!

Most important of all, have fun and try your best!  Good luck!

Join us on a 6 week journey to better fitness through a gradual increase in running until you're ready to run a 5K on May 1st!

Whether you're looking to lose some weight, or not be out of breath at the top of stairs, we’re excited that you're thinking of improving your fitness level. A Couch to 5K initiative will result in improvements in your overall wellbeing and is great cardio exercise that can help prevent health problems in the long run. Regular exercise can reduce chances of cardiac disease and increase your daily energy!

A Couch to 5K initiative is making a decision against inactivity (the couch) by aiming to eventually run 5km. Couch to 5K training plans are designed for those looking to start out running or you may have once been a runner but are starting over after a long period of inactivity. This 6 week program is designed for anybody and will ease you, week by week, towards the goal of running a full 5km.

Follow along on Mudppy Chase social media as we take you through a six week training plan involving three run workouts per week. The plan has a gentle progression of volume with a nice mix of fun running based drills to help you achieve your goals. We will start off on March 21st!

Along with the 6  week training plan, we are offering two coached run sessions per week. Join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm at Waterloo Park as we progress through the training plan. Get extra tips and ask questions about your progress in a fun group environment with other runners of the same skill.

The cost for the coached run sessions is $99 which includes the training plan , the group run sessions and admission to the 5K Mudpuppy Chase Road Race on May 1st. This race will be the glorious moment your training pays off as you run in one of KW’s best spring road races with your fellow Fighting Koala Couch to 5Kers! Trust me – crossing that finish line will be a great feeling!

Just follow us on Facebook or Twitter to get your daily tips. To enroll in the weekly coached running sessions, contact for more info.

Get out there and run!

Kicks for Kids

If you have any used running shoes, or ones that don’t fit anymore, bring them with you on race day tp donate and we will make sure they find their way to kids who don’t have any at all. Through our Rotary International network your donated shoes will be distributed by our sister Rotary Club in Africa to some of the remote villages in South Africa where fellow Rotary members will make sure that kids can play soccer in running shoes instead of bare feet.
Our goal this year is 200 pairs so dig through those closets and bring them along and help some kids in need. The donation box will be located beside the registration area

April 12th

It is safe to donate!  Thanks to Artez our online provider:  Artez Interactive can confirm that our servers and products were not vulnerable to Heartbleed and your secure client data is not affected.
